La práctica multidisciplinaria de Dalton Gata (Cuba, 1977) se basa en el surrealismo, la cultura caribeña y su experiencia como diseñador para reflexionar sobre los estándares tradicionales de belleza y género mientras celebra la diversidad, la autoexpresión y la importancia de la aceptación. Su abundante mundo visual combina la cultura popular con las relaciones personales, las narrativas, los recuerdos, los hallazgos de Internet y las experiencias, creando un universo rico y único. Dalton Gata se graduó en 2005 de la Escuela de Diseño Altos del Chavón en Santo Domingo, RD, con un BFA en Diseño de Moda. Trabajó como diseñador produciendo dos colecciones propias antes de dedicarse de tiempo completo al arte.
Dalton Gata vive y trabaja en San Juan, Puerto Rico. The multidisciplinary practice of Dalton Gata (Cuba, 1977) draws from Surrealism, Caribbean culture, and his designer background to reflect upon traditional standards of beauty and gender while celebrating diversity, self-expression, and the importance of acceptance. His bountiful visual world blends popular culture with personal relationships, narratives, memories, internet findings, and experiences, creating a rich and unique universe. Dalton Gata graduated in 2005 from the Altos del Chavón Design School in Santo Domingo, DR, with a BFA in Fashion Design. He worked as a designer producing two collections of his own before turning full-time into art.
